Context:

Rainmaker is a software product company providing operational management solutions for Airlines. Rainmaker is looking for experienced Project Managers to lead and manage technical product development and implementation projects. The technical development aspects involve management of technical teams developing solutions on the Microsoft .Net platform. The implementation aspects involve managing the interaction with customer stakeholders and ensuring the successful configuration and implementation of the Rainmaker solutions.

Job purpose:

Plan and manage Rainmaker IT development and implementation projects to deliver to scope, on time and within budget. Assist with developing best practice by bring knowledge and expertise in project management using relevant approaches and methodologies such as PRINCE 2, SCRUM and relevant SDLC practices.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  1. Lead the planning and implementation of Rainmaker projects – both internal and implementations for Rainmaker customers.
  2. Facilitate and oversee the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
  1. Define project tasks and resource requirements.
  2. Develop full scale project plans and manage the estimation process based on applying experience and recognised estimating practices (such as Function Point Analysis, or relevant others).
  3. Assemble project teams from the Rainmaker resource pool, allocate people to appropriate roles and manage teams to ensure effective and productive delivery.
  4. Manage project plans, timelines and budgets.
  1. Track project performance, risks, issues and status using appropriate tools such as Risk and Issue Logs, Microsoft Project, etc. Report status routinely and consistently to all project stakeholders.
  2. Provide direct supervision and support for project teams including quality assurance of project deliverables.
  3. Manage project scope and change control making appropriate interventions when new requirements or amendments are raised.
  4. Evaluate project team member performance and overall project performance. Monitor and contribute to the development of individuals and the team.

Education and Expertise:

The candidate for the role should meet the following educational and experience requirements:

  • Third level degree.
  • Qualification in Project Management or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of IT project management, including knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Proven experience in people management, strategic planning, risk and issue management, change management.
  • Direct work experience as IT project manager with a track record of successful project delivery.
